School News

Our Halloween fundraiser was a great success! We raised $3000 for the purchase of gym equipment. We thank our fabulous creative PTA members of: Rita, Kristin, Christiane, Joanie, Maria, Marc, Michael, Earl, and all the other volunteers, without whose help we wouldn’t have pulled off such a great party. Thank you, Mr. Fry, for planning and executing the Haunted House. It was worth the wait!
A special thank you for the artistic contributions of Ronald Stassen whose drawings took our breath away! The proceeds of which were donated to the school. Thank you very much!!

EPIC fundraiser
Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) is hosting an event to raise money for their in-school programs on Sunday, November 9, at The Westin, Dawn Beach. All proceeds will benefit EPIC. Tickets for this event are $20.00 available at the school office. Please join this worthwhile cause, as your support underpins programs offered free in schools.

School Photographs
The St. Maarten Montessori School will be offering photo packages for the 2008-2009 school year. Photos will be taken by Mrs. Penelope Pereira starting Friday, November 14 and continuing the week of November 17. Please see letter that was sent home on Wednesday, October 29 for more information. Kindly note that payment must be sent into the school office by: Friday, November 7.

Dinner of Thanks
Upper Elementary students will host their annual Dinner of Thanks on Thursday, November 20. This year, students will honour Dutch-side school music teachers and local musicians who donate their time to schools.

Dengue presentation
Parents of Lower and Upper Elementary students - if they wish to - are invited to join their children for a 30 minute presentation on Dengue fever on Tuesday, November 25 at 8:00 a.m. in the school gym. We urge everyone to arrive on time, as the importance of information to help us all remain healthy during this epidemic cannot be overemphasized.

Observation Week
Please sign up to view your child’s classroom in action during Observation Week, Mon. Nov. 24 to Fri. Nov. 28. Only one parent is allowed in the classroom at a time, and only two people per family may visit during the week. There are observation guidelines in every classroom.

Vaccination records
